Bio

I founded Chesapeake Materials in 2011 with a clear mission: to help manufacturers manage their plastic waste streams more effectively and sustainably. After earning a B.A. from Johns Hopkins University in 1987 and a J.D. from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 1991, I served five years on active duty in the U.S. Army JAG Corps and later retired from the Army Reserves.

Following my military service, I found my way into the plastics recycling industry at a time when markets were still in their infancy.  I spent over a decade working for a firm to connect plastic waste streams with viable markets—long before those markets were well established. In 2011, seeing both the potential and the pitfalls of the industry, I launched Chesapeake Materials with a longtime friend.  Our goal was to apply lessons learned and build a company that puts service, transparency, and long-term sustainability first.

Today, I lead a team dedicated to helping companies turn waste into opportunity—delivering smart, customized solutions that keep materials out of landfills and in productive use.  I am proud of the positive impact we’ve had in recycling but also of the dynamic, professional and fun office we’ve built.
